FOSTER HOMES URGENTLY NEEDED
------------------------------------------------------
Offering a rescued cat a foster home can often be the difference between life and death for
that cat. Therefore we are appealing to cat lovers to consider giving a foster home, short
or long term, to a rescued cat. Requirements would include a warm shed or spare room
where the cat could stay seperate from your own cat(s), a litter tray and cat litter, a
cardboard box lined with a blanket or jumpers for the cat to sleep in, cat food, (tins and
dried), and some spare time to devote to caring for a cat or kitten who may be badly in
need of it. Please phone 098-27752 or click on the e-mail button.

VOLUNTEERS ALWAYS WANTED

We always need Volunteers to help with our Street Collections in Westport, Castlebar,
Ballina and Claremorris and our Church Gate Collections in Louisburgh, Mulranny, Achill,
Crossmolina, Tourmakeady, Foxford, Swinford, Kiltimagh and Ballyheane. We need
people to help with our raffles, so if you have a few hours to spare and would love to help
animals, please get in touch with us.

10k Sponsored Walk for Mayo Animal Sanctuary
Appeal held on Sunday 8th July 2001 in Castlebar.
Pictured are the tired but happy participants after this years 10k sponsored walk held on
8th July which raised over £2,600. It was a really enjoyable event. Approximately 25 of
us stepped it out for the 6 miles on a dry morning with a refreshing breeze. There were
walkers from all corners of Mayo with one thing in common. A love of animals and a
desire to help them. A huge thank you to everyone who completed the walk and
especially for raising all that money. The Sanctuary Appeal fund now stands at just over
£42,000. Once again thanks for your support.

Pet Photo Competition raises £200!
Our Pet Photo Competition was a huge success with 40 entrants and
raising £200 into the bargain. We received some beautiful photos and you
can view the winners by clicking on the link below.
Spay Poster Campaign
Mayo Cat Recue has launched a
Poster Campaign to encourage cat
owners to have their cats spayed and
neutered. The poster features a photo
of the three week old kitten found in a
dustbin in a Mayo town during 2001
along with its littermate who was dead.
The posters, which are A3 size with
black print on a yellow background,
will be distributed to Vets, Libraries
and community noticeboards
throughout Mayo over the coming
weeks. We are hoping that the hard
hitting poster will have the desired
effect and will prompt owners to have
their cats spayed/neutered.

Posters are 20p each and if you would
like to receive a quantity, please send a
large stamped addressed envelope
along with a cheque made payable to
Mayo Cat Rescue to; Spay Poster
Campaign, C/o 19 St Marys Crescent,
Westport, Co Mayo. Individuals may
have one Poster free of charge by
sending an SAE.

£8,500 (E10,793) Grant for Mayo Animal Sanctuary
Appeal from Dept of Agriculture.

The Dept of Agriculture allocated a grant of £8,500 (E10,793) to the
Mayo Animal Sanctuary Appeal in December 2001. This brings the
total Appeal fund to just over £43,500 or E55,000. The Mayo Animal
Sanctuary Appeal committee would like to thank the Minister for
Agriculture, Mr Joe Walsh, for acknowledging and supporting the work
of the organisation. It is hoped, planning permission and funds
permitting, that work on the Sanctuary will commence in 2002.
